Equipment: As a Dive professional it is expected that you have your own dive equipment. Do not worry if you have not all the essential equipment. Here at Easy Divers, our staff is on hand to guide you in purchasing whatever equipment you need.
It is required that you have a full set of Scuba Equipment including all Safety Equipment (Knife, Whistle, Safety Marker Buoy (SMB) and a Rescue Pocket Mask.

As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you will not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional scuba diver, but you also start learning the PADI System of diver education. You can act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities. It’s a great way to gain experience in order to become a PADI Scuba Instructor and Take your Padi IDC.
The PADI Assistant Instructor course (PADI AI)is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) and when followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor course (PADI OWSI) and successful performance at the Instructor Examination (PADI IE), leads to certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
Beyond the responsibilities and duties they already have as PADI Dive Masters, renewed (and insured, where applicable) PADI Assistant Instructors are authorized to:
1. Present the academic elaboration for any PADI Diver course under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor. The PADI Instructor must personally assess student knowledge development
2. During confined water dives, present initial skills training under the direct supervision of a PADI Instructor.
3. Conduct open water surface skill evaluations during Open Water Diver course training dives under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor.
4. Teach and certify PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Divers under the direction of a PADI Instructor. A Teaching Status PADI Instructor must be available for consultation during the course, although not necessarily present during training sessions.
5. Independently teach the Project AWARE (non diving) Specialty course.
6. Independently teach the AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation (non diving) Specialty course.
7. Independently conduct Discover Scuba Diving in a pool or confined water environment.
8. Independently conduct PADI Seal Team Aqua Missions.
9. Teach and certify student divers in a non diving specialty after successful completion of a Specialty Instructor Training course for that specialty (as long as all requirements are met for Specialty Instructor certification).
10. Teach PADI Digital Underwater Photographer specialty courses under the direction of a PADI Instructor after earning the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Instructor rating.
11. Teach PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider specialty courses after earning the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty Instructor rating.
Course Prerequisites
1. Dive Leader certification — PADI Dive Master or leadership-level certification with a recognized recreational diver training organization .
2. 60 logged dives; documented experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation.
3. 18 years old
4. Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months.
5. Certified diver for minimum six months.
6. EFR Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months.
7. If not a PADI Dive Master, complete the PADI Dive Master course diver rescue skills assessment.
Course Program

2. Present two knowledge development teaching presentations, scoring a minimum of 3.5 on at least one.
3. Present two confined water teaching presentations, scoring a minimum of 3.4 on at least one.
4. Present one integrated (two skills) open water teaching presentation, scoring a minimum of 3.4 on each skill.
5. Perform all 20 dive skills in the Skill Evaluation, scoring a minimum of 68 total points, with no individual score below 3.
6. Score 75% on the PADI Systems, Standards and Procedures Exam and have any missed questions reviewed until mastery is achieved.
7. Complete the PADI Dive master course – Diver Rescue assessment in open water.
